It’s true that shoes really polish off an outfit, and can often make or break it. When you build an outfit in your head, always remember to add in the shoes. From colour to style, heels to flats, check out these classic combinations for a look that kills from head to toe.

Skinny jeans

Skinny jeans have stayed in style for a long time; they’re comfortable, stylish, and can be dressed up or down. For a casual summer daytime look, you can pair them with flip flops which are great for a summer barbecue when you need to slip them on and off. Flats or pumps keep it simple and comfortable when you’re out and about and will be pounding the pavement. For a night time look, add a pair of statement heels and a floaty top for a look that is killer.

To channel 50s glamour with a knee-length halter dress, go with a small heel that’s between 1.5″ and 2″ in height. This will add a little pump to your calves and complement the overall style. For a plain knee-length skirt or dress, flats and higher heels also go well, although try not to go higher than 3″ as this can overbalance the look. Summer wedges look particularly beautiful.

Mini skirt or dress

A mini skirt or dress worn out on the town looks great with a pair of statement heels around 3-4″ in height. Your legs are the focal point here, so adding a heel can really elongate them and pump the calf muscle out. For a daytime look, a classic pump or small wedge heel looks cool and classy.

Maxi skirt or dress

Floor-length dresses and skirts are best suited to a flat shoe, like a sandal, pump, or espadrille. This makes for a very comfortable outfit!
